The Met Gala 2017- Our Favourite Looks

The Met Gala is a key event in the fashion calendar. The annual event is highly anticipated for Hollywood’s hottest, the media and of course, all of us who tune in every year judging every look and deciding exactly who wins Best Dressed.

The Met Gala is a chance to showcase exactly what fashion is about, going back to the roots celebrating the most creative, outrageous and artistic looks of the year. Hosted by the woman of fashion herself, Anna Wintour- you can always expect the most elite faces wearing the most respected fashion houses.

This year’s theme was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons, in honour of 74 year old, Japanese fashion designer- and the dress code to be “avant-garde” Avant-garde is a French phrase meaning “New and unusual or experimental ideas, especially in the arts”

While many ignored the theme, like most years, many lived up to it- and the results were wonderfully avant-garde. Here is our favourite looks from this year’s Met.

  1. Blake Lively wearing a gold embellished Versace gown with a blue feathered train. Lively was also reportedly wore almost 200 carats of jewels- this look is perfect but what do we expect from Lively, she never seems to get it wrong.

2. Zendaya and her amazing parrot covered Dolce & Gabbana dress really stole the show. Everything from the gown to the hair to the makeup is completely perfect.

3.Our girl Cara Delevingne absolutely nailed the theme with this silver chanel suit. Only Cara could rock a shaved head on the red carpet and still look so glamorous.

4. Okay so this isn’t the most “Met Gala” dress ever, and really isn’t fitting for the theme at all, but my god this dress is so stunning it had to make the list. Miranda Kerr wearing Oscar de la Renta.

5. She’s done it again. Our favourite at Coachella and our favourite here again. This is everything the Met is about, originality, strength to stand out and she perfectly hit the theme celebrating Rei Kawakubo’s work. The amazing tie up shoes and fierce hair and makeup keep it modern and so Rihanna. Our chosen best dressed for the evening.
